Hormone Optimization.

When the symptoms aren't "just stress" — comprehensive testing and personalized treatment for energy, mood, sleep, and metabolic balance.

Hormones as a system, not a single hormone.

Hormone optimization isn't testosterone or estrogen in isolation. It's the relationship between sex hormones, thyroid, cortisol, insulin, and the systems they regulate. Treating one without seeing the others is incomplete care.

At Juvenescence, care begins with detailed intake, symptom mapping, and comprehensive lab work. Treatment is individualized — bioidentical hormones where appropriate, thyroid support where indicated, cortisol regulation when chronically elevated, and lifestyle integration always.

The NP advantage. The Nurse Practitioner scope in British Columbia permits prescribing, lab ordering, and ongoing monitoring under one license. Your hormone care, weight management, IV therapy, and aesthetic plan don't get fragmented across multiple providers.

Visit by visit.

The first appointment is intake and symptom mapping — an hour with Stephanie to map what you're experiencing, prior history, current medications, and goals. Any recent bloodwork is reviewed; new lab orders are placed where needed.

Once results return, treatment is initiated — typically a combination of bioidentical hormone therapy, targeted nutrient or thyroid support, and lifestyle protocol. Initial follow-up at 6 to 8 weeks to assess symptom response. Lab work repeated at three months. Ongoing visits quarterly or as needed.

Where it fits.

Common reasons patients begin hormone optimization:

  • Perimenopause symptoms — sleep disruption, mood changes, irregular cycles, hot flushes, brain fog.
  • Menopause — vaginal dryness, libido changes, joint discomfort, weight redistribution.
  • Low testosterone in men — fatigue, reduced libido, mood changes, loss of muscle mass.
  • Thyroid imbalance — persistent fatigue, cold intolerance, weight changes, hair thinning.
  • Chronic stress and cortisol dysregulation — flat energy, poor sleep, anxiety, weight around the midsection.
  • Integration with weight management (GLP-1) or aesthetic protocols.

Where can I get hormone optimization on Vancouver Island?
Juvenescence Wellness in Lake Cowichan offers Nurse Practitioner–led hormone optimization for patients across Vancouver Island. The NP scope of practice in BC permits comprehensive hormone testing and prescribing — including bioidentical hormone replacement therapy where clinically appropriate. The clinic serves patients from the Cowichan Valley, Duncan, Nanaimo, Victoria, Ladysmith, and Powell River.
What does hormone optimization actually involve?
Care begins with thorough intake and symptom mapping, followed by comprehensive lab work — sex hormones (estradiol, progesterone, testosterone), thyroid panel, cortisol, and metabolic markers. Treatment is individualized based on results and goals, and may include bioidentical hormones, thyroid support, cortisol regulation, lifestyle integration, and ongoing monitoring.
Is BHRT (bioidentical hormone therapy) safe?
When prescribed and monitored by a qualified clinician, hormone replacement therapy has a well-established safety profile. Bioidentical hormones — those molecularly identical to those the body produces — are typically prescribed at the lowest effective dose, with regular lab monitoring and clinical reassessment. Suitability is determined at intake based on individual history and risk factors.
Do you treat perimenopause and menopause?
Yes. Perimenopause and menopause are core areas of focus at Juvenescence. Symptoms — sleep disruption, mood changes, hot flushes, vaginal dryness, brain fog, weight changes — are treated with a combination of hormone optimization, lifestyle integration, and supporting therapies (NAD+ IV, IV nutrient support) where appropriate.
Do you offer hormone optimization for men?
Yes. Andropause and low testosterone — fatigue, low libido, mood changes, loss of muscle mass — can be assessed and treated. Care includes comprehensive bloodwork, testosterone optimization where clinically indicated, and integration with weight management or IV therapy where appropriate.
Is hormone testing and treatment covered by BC MSP?
Standard lab work ordered by a Nurse Practitioner is generally covered under BC MSP. Visit fees for hormone consultation and treatment planning at a private clinic are typically not covered, though extended health plans may reimburse a portion. Bioidentical hormone prescriptions are filled at compounding pharmacies and may be covered under extended drug plans. Patients should check with their benefits provider for specifics.
