Thread Lifting.

Dissolvable medical-grade threads placed beneath the skin to provide subtle mechanical lift and stimulate collagen production where your tissue needs support.

Support now. Collagen later.

Thread lifting uses fine, dissolvable medical-grade threads placed beneath the skin in clinical patterns. The threads do two things at once: provide mechanical support (lift) and signal the body to produce new collagen along their path.

Fine, dissolvable threads are placed beneath the skin in patterns planned for your anatomy. They provide gentle structural support while stimulating the body's own collagen production along their path.

Best suited to early jawline softening, cheek elevation, and the first signs of mid-face laxity — the stage where filler alone doesn't address the concern but a surgical lift isn't warranted.

Where thread lifting fits, and where it doesn't. Thread lifting is a non-surgical tool for early to moderate laxity in patients in their 30s, 40s, and 50s. It is not a replacement for a facelift when significant laxity is present, and it works best when planned alongside neuromodulators, dermal filler, or skin rejuvenation as part of a complete strategy.

The visit.

The first appointment is consultation and clinical assessment — tissue quality, anatomy, expression patterns, and goals are mapped before any thread is placed. Suitability is established before treatment is scheduled.

On treatment day, the area is cleansed and topical or local anesthetic is applied. Sterile threads are introduced using fine cannulas or needles, placed in the planned pattern. Sessions typically take 45 to 90 minutes depending on areas being addressed.

Initial lift is visible immediately and improves over 2 to 4 weeks as swelling resolves. Collagen stimulation develops progressively over 3 to 6 months. Threads dissolve completely over 4 to 8 months; the collagen they stimulated remains 12 to 18 months or longer.

Where it fits.

  • Early jawline softening or jowl formation — subtle lift before surgical intervention is indicated.
  • Mid-face descent and flattening cheekbones, often paired with cheek filler.
  • Brow position changes and the upper-face shifts of aging.
  • Neck and decólletage skin laxity in early stages.
  • Overall skin firmness and collagen support for patients who want a regenerative approach rather than purely volumetric correction.
  • Patients who have done filler and want to address what filler can't — lift and skin quality, not volume.

Thread lifting is not appropriate for patients with significant laxity that warrants surgical evaluation, those with active skin infection in the treatment area, or patients with bleeding disorders or on medications that cannot be safely paused.

Where can I get a thread lift on Vancouver Island?
Juvenescence Wellness in Lake Cowichan offers Nurse Practitioner–administered thread lifting using dissolvable medical-grade threads. The clinic serves patients from the Cowichan Valley, Duncan, Nanaimo, Victoria, Ladysmith, and Powell River.
How does thread lifting work?
Thread lifting uses fine, dissolvable medical-grade threads placed beneath the skin using cannulas or needles. The threads provide support and stimulate the body's own collagen production along their path. Over several months the threads dissolve completely, while the collagen and elastin they stimulated continue to support the treated area for a year or longer.
How long do results last?
The threads themselves dissolve over 4 to 8 months. The collagen they stimulated typically supports visible improvement for 12 to 18 months, with some patients seeing benefit longer. Maintenance sessions are usually planned at 12 to 18 months to refresh the collagen response.
Thread lifting vs dermal filler — which is right for me?
They address different concerns. Dermal filler restores lost volume and supports facial structure. Thread lifting provides subtle lift and stimulates collagen to firm the skin. They are often complementary — volume restoration plus skin tightening — rather than direct substitutes. Selection is individualized at consultation based on what your face needs.
Is there downtime?
Most patients experience mild swelling, tenderness, and occasional bruising at insertion points that resolves within 5 to 10 days. Some tightness or pulling sensation in the first week is normal as tissue settles around the threads. Strenuous exercise, facial massage, dental work, and sleeping face-down should be avoided for 2 weeks. Most patients return to normal activity within 24 to 48 hours.
Who is a good candidate?
Thread lifting works best for early to moderate skin laxity in patients in their 30s, 40s, and 50s — particularly along the jawline, cheeks, brows, and neck. It is not a replacement for a surgical facelift when significant laxity is present. Suitability is established at consultation based on tissue quality, anatomy, and goals.
Can thread lifting be combined with other treatments?
Yes. Thread lifting pairs well with neuromodulators (for expression), dermal fillers (for volume), and skin rejuvenation protocols. Treatment sequencing is planned at consultation — threads are typically placed before or after other treatments rather than during the same visit, allowing tissue to settle appropriately.
