PRP Therapy.

Platelet-rich plasma, drawn from your own blood, prepared on site, used to stimulate regeneration where your tissue can still respond.

Your own biology, concentrated.

Platelet-rich plasma is exactly what it sounds like: blood, centrifuged to concentrate the platelets and growth factors, then placed where you need regeneration. There's no external compound — the active ingredient is your own physiology.

Three primary applications at Juvenescence:

  • Hair restoration — injected into the scalp to stimulate weakening follicles and slow thinning.
  • Skin rejuvenation — microneedled into the face for collagen stimulation, tone, and texture.
  • Intimate wellness — injected into vaginal or clitoral tissue for sensation, post-menopausal tissue health, or post-childbirth concerns.
Where PRP fits, and where it doesn't. PRP works best when your tissue still has the capacity to respond. For hair, that means starting before the follicles are fully dormant. For skin, it pairs well with microneedling. It is not a replacement for fillers or surgical interventions.

The session.

A small blood draw is performed at the start of the appointment — less than a standard lab visit. The sample is centrifuged on site to separate platelets and growth factors from red blood cells. The concentrated plasma is then injected or microneedled into the treatment site.

Sessions take 60 to 90 minutes depending on the area. Topical numbing is available for facial and scalp treatments. Most patients describe the discomfort as moderate but brief.

Results develop progressively over 3 to 6 months as collagen and tissue remodeling occur. The standard protocol is an initial series of three treatments spaced 4 to 6 weeks apart, with maintenance every 6 to 12 months thereafter.

Where it fits.

  • Early-to-moderate hair thinning, particularly when started before follicles are fully dormant. Often paired with EXO Grow topical protocol.
  • Skin texture, fine lines, post-acne scarring, and overall tone — combined with microneedling for compounding effect.
  • Post-menopausal or post-childbirth changes in vaginal tissue health, sensation, or comfort.
  • Post-procedure recovery support, often after surgical or aggressive aesthetic treatments.
  • Patients who prefer regenerative approaches over synthetic injectables or topicals.

Where can I get PRP therapy on Vancouver Island?
Juvenescence Wellness in Lake Cowichan offers NP-administered PRP therapy for hair restoration, skin rejuvenation, and intimate wellness. Blood is drawn, processed, and re-injected on site. The clinic serves patients from the Cowichan Valley, Duncan, Nanaimo, Victoria, Ladysmith, and Powell River.
How does PRP work?
PRP uses growth factors from your own blood to stimulate tissue repair, collagen production, and cellular regeneration. A small blood draw is centrifuged to concentrate platelets, then the resulting plasma is injected or microneedled into the treatment site. The growth factors signal local tissue to remodel and regenerate over weeks and months.
Does PRP actually work for hair restoration?
PRP for hair has clinical evidence supporting modest but real improvements in hair density and shaft thickness, particularly when treatment is started early in the thinning process and combined with adjunct therapies. It is most effective in patients with active follicles that are weakening rather than completely dormant. Results develop progressively over 3 to 6 months and typically require a series of treatments plus maintenance.
How many treatments will I need?
The standard protocol is an initial series of 3 treatments spaced 4 to 6 weeks apart, followed by maintenance every 6 to 12 months. Individual response varies, and the protocol is adjusted based on results at follow-up.
Is there downtime after PRP?
Mild swelling, redness, and tenderness at the injection sites are normal and typically resolve within 24 to 72 hours. Facial PRP may have slightly longer-lasting redness when combined with microneedling. Most patients return to normal activities the same day. Strenuous exercise and alcohol should be avoided for 24 to 48 hours.
What is PRP intimate wellness?
PRP intimate wellness involves injection of platelet-rich plasma into vaginal or clitoral tissue to support tissue health, sensation, and post-menopausal or post-childbirth concerns.
