Injectables, planned around your face.

Neuromodulators and hyaluronic acid fillers, administered by Stephanie Eschak, NP. Individually planned for natural, balanced, age-appropriate results — never templated.

Radiesse Lidocaine dermal filler at Juvenescence Wellness — Nurse Practitioner-administered injectable in Lake Cowichan, BC

Four neuromodulators. Refined fillers.

Botox (onabotulinumtoxinA, Allergan) is the original Health Canada–approved botulinum toxin type A. The benchmark against which the others are measured.

Dysport (abobotulinumtoxinA, Galderma) has a slightly faster onset and diffuses more — useful for larger treatment areas like the forehead and crow's feet.

Nuceiva (prabotulinumtoxinA, Evolus) is the newer Health Canada–approved option, sometimes called "Newtox." Clinically equivalent in mechanism; selection is individualized.

Xeomin (incobotulinumtoxinA, Merz) is a "naked" toxin without accessory proteins, sometimes preferred for patients concerned about antibody response over long-term use.

Hyaluronic acid dermal fillers restore lost volume, support facial structure, and address lines present at rest. Radiesse (calcium hydroxylapatite) is also available as a longer-lasting biostimulator. Used to rebalance, not to over-fill.

Selection is clinical, not promotional. The brand of neuromodulator is chosen for your face, your prior response, and the area being treated — not because of a special on one product. This is standard NP-led practice.

The visit, step by step.

Every new patient relationship begins with clinical intake. Health history, current medications, prior treatments, expression patterns, and goals are discussed before any product is selected.

Treatment itself takes 20 to 45 minutes depending on areas being addressed. Fine-gauge needles, topical numbing available for filler placement. Most patients describe the discomfort as minor and brief.

Neuromodulator results begin to appear within 3 to 7 days and are fully expressed by day 14. Filler results are visible immediately, with final settling at 2 to 4 weeks. New patients are scheduled for a 2-week follow-up to assess and adjust if needed.

Where it fits.

Patients commonly pursue neuromodulators or fillers for:

  • Dynamic lines — forehead, frown, crow's feet — softened without losing expression.
  • Subtle restoration of volume lost through aging or weight changes.
  • Facial balance and proportion — lips, cheeks, jawline, chin.
  • Preventative work in patients in their late 20s and 30s, planned conservatively.
  • Correction of prior filler that has migrated or been over-placed — through hyaluronidase dissolution where appropriate.

Suitability and treatment plan are established at the consultation. There is no fixed protocol — your plan is built around your face.

What is the difference between Botox, Dysport, Nuceiva, and Xeomin?
All four are Health Canada–approved botulinum toxin type A neuromodulators that temporarily relax targeted facial muscles. Botox (Allergan) is the original. Dysport (Galderma) has slightly faster onset and diffuses more, making it suitable for larger areas. Nuceiva (Evolus) is the newer Health Canada–approved option, sometimes called "Newtox." Xeomin (Merz) is a "naked" toxin without accessory proteins, sometimes preferred for patients concerned about long-term antibody response. Clinically all four are equivalent in mechanism. Selection is individualized.
Where can I get Nuceiva (Newtox) on Vancouver Island?
Juvenescence Wellness in Lake Cowichan, BC offers Nuceiva as part of its neuromodulator menu, administered by Stephanie Eschak, Nurse Practitioner. The clinic serves patients from across Vancouver Island including Duncan, Nanaimo, Victoria, Ladysmith, and Powell River.
How long does Botox actually last?
Neuromodulator longevity is not a fixed number of months. The average duration is 3 to 4 months, but actual duration varies based on individual biology: inflammation load, sleep quality, nutrient absorption, stress hormones, immune reactivity, and physical activity all influence how long results last. Two patients receiving the same dose can experience meaningfully different durations. This is biology, not "Botox resistance."
Will I look frozen?
Not at Juvenescence. Treatment plans are individualized for natural, balanced, age-appropriate results. The goal is to soften dynamic lines and rebalance facial expression — not to eliminate movement. Dose, placement, and treatment area are all calibrated to your face and your preferences.
What's the difference between neuromodulators and dermal fillers?
Neuromodulators (Botox, Dysport, Nuceiva) temporarily relax muscles to soften dynamic wrinkles — the lines that appear with expression. Dermal fillers are most commonly hyaluronic acid–based gels that restore lost volume, support facial structure, and address static lines (those present at rest). The two are often used together as part of a comprehensive treatment plan, but they are different tools for different concerns.
Is there downtime after injectables?
Neuromodulators typically have no meaningful downtime — patients return to normal activity the same day. Minor pinpoint redness at injection sites resolves within an hour. Fillers can cause swelling, mild bruising, and tenderness that typically resolves within 3 to 7 days. Strenuous exercise, alcohol, and facial massage should be avoided for 24 hours after either treatment.
Can you correct overdone or migrated filler?
Yes. Hyaluronic acid–based dermal fillers can be dissolved using hyaluronidase, an enzyme injected into the filler deposit. Patients who have had filler placed elsewhere and are unhappy with the result — including filler that has migrated or accumulated — can book a consultation to assess whether dissolution is appropriate before any new filler is placed. This is medical care, not just cosmetic.
Do I need a consultation before my first injection?
Yes. All new patient relationships at Juvenescence begin with clinical intake — health history, current medications, prior treatments, goals, and treatment planning. This is standard NP-led practice and the only way to deliver care that's individualized rather than templated.
